Doctoral Candidate Lisa Stehr
Lisa Stehr has been a PhD candidate at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health since February 2023. Her primary research interests include the determinants of health behavior, health system strengthening in low-resource settings, and the relationship between socioeconomic status and cardiovascular risk factors.
Her dissertation focuses on the impact evaluation of a randomized controlled trial aimed at decentralizing health care services for diabetes and hypertension in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). As part of this international EU Horizon 2020 project, she coordinated the trial and supervised survey data collection in the country.In 2024, she was awarded a fellowship at the Yale School of Public Health in the United States. She is supported by a full PhD scholarship from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and previously received a scholarship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation in recognition of her civic engagement and academic excellence.
She holds an MA in International Development Studies, a BA in Political Science and Economics, and a BSc in Psychology. Her academic journey has taken her through Heidelberg, Marburg, and Hagen, with study stays in South Africa and Peru.
